A Boy and his Live Shoes

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

One day while my child was a Kindergarten student, we were on a car drive.

It went a little like this...

"Hey Mom. We got a problem back here."

Me: Yeah? What is it, sweetheart?"

"My SHOES have SHRUNK!"

"Awe baby, your shoes haven't shrunk, your feet have GROWN"

In order to engage in more conversation, I asked....

" Now wouldn't that just be silly?! How would your shoes shrink?"

"Yeah, that couldn't happen, right Mom? I mean, unless they were ALIVE!"

Me: "Oooh now that would be so funny! What would that look like? Let's talk about that.WE SHOULD WRITE A BOOK ABOUT IT!"

In pure hopes to engage in conversation,  l asked my son to imagine and tell me about the characters......

What did the shoes look like, I asked. What would you name the little boy?

What does he like to do, what are his interests, etc. Essentially teaching him how to be an author. By creating and building the structure of a fictional book. From there, we put it into story form while incorporating a valuable lesson about the power of perspective and ones internal belief system. The overall goal being to create something together, and turn it into a project, and community offering as well.
